PIANO RECITALS
1.30 pm and 3.30 pm
Julian Stowell
will give a ‘salon’ style piano recital in the drawing room of his family home in Sandwich.
The programme: Julian writes:
This year I plan to feature two of my favourite composers, Mendelssohn and Chopin, direct contemporaries from the first half of the 19th Century. Whilst the composers knew and respected each other, their backgrounds, lifestyles, and musical outputs were very different. More than 200 years after their births, their repertoires still feature prominently among the classical music we enjoy today. I will briefly illustrate these points and include some of their more accessible piano compositions.
By popular demand I also intend to feature a new work by local composer Bob Ward and a duet with my brother on clarinet.
The recital will take place twice:
The first recital will take place promptly at 1.30pm and will be followed by afternoon tea. The second will begin at 3.30pm with tea and the recital will follow at 4pm. Numbers are strictly limited on a first-come-first-served basis. Pre-registration is essential by e-mail to Julian.stowell@btinternet.com or by phoning Julian on 07881 345370.
There will be a retiring collection with all funds going directly to support Sandwich Arts Week . Your contributions will be much appreciated.
