Toilets are available in the town centre, behind the Guildhall in the car park area.

Protocol when passing horses –

Please be aware when approaching/passing horses and ponies that they are flight animals and can be unpredictable, if you are approaching from behind please make the horse riders aware vocally from around 20m away and SLOW DOWN or STOP, until the riders are in a safe place for you to pass giving the horses at least 1.5m of space, horses can’t see behind them. If you are approaching head on please follow the same guidelines as above.

You can’t always hear bikes approaching, so please take this into consideration when on country lanes and around bends.

Please also listen to the horse riders instructions, if they ask you to slow down or stop either vocally or with hand signals, do so, this is not only for their safety but your own. Horse riders and horses are all different experiences and ages so you may meet children, new riders or young horses.

Le Tour de Sandwich is an important part of Le Weekend Festival.  Cyclists are invited to join in the festivities on completion of the ride.

Proceeds from Le Tour help make the festival possible.  As rider numbers increase we are also able to make contributions to  local charities:

£2000 was donated to the Sandwich Leisure trust in 2015 for community sports facilities.  We hope to match that in 2016.

£1500 was donated to the Phoenix Youth project in Sandwich in 2014.

£1000 was donated to the charity REACH in 2013:
