A P22 Gunship manned by a crew of 6 and armoured with three 50 calibre Browning machine guns will moor on the River in Sandwich for the weekend. It will be the heart of a weekend of re-enacting the 40s with over 200 experienced re-enactors taking part. The likes of the Desert Rats, RAF, Red Cross Nurses, Military Police, Home Guard, Land Army Girls, number 4 Commando Group and more will bring to life scenes including rescuing downed airmen from the Sea and stretchering the wounded to field hospitals . Air raid sirens and the sound of gunfire will add to the feel of authentic WW2 atmosphere.It is anticipated that Sandwich Town shops, businesses and groups will take part and will dress in 40s style. A procession each morning will proceed through Sandwich.
Entertainments over the weekend include a Railway Swing Band concert in St Mary’s on Saturday evening (ticket price £15) and free live music from the deck of the P22 on all three days featuring 40s style singers including well know Micky Driver.
The event is organised by the Sandwich Rotary Club and the P22 Trust with support from Sandwich Community Events Association. The free three day event will be funded mainly be a prize draw with a first prize of £1,000 and other prizes including a trip for 8 people on board the P22.

Sandwich Goes French for Le Weekend. Now in its seventh year, Le Weekend will host the authentic French Market; offer 2 free outdoor concerts featuring French and English musicians; enjoy a street Can Can dance off; see around 400 cyclists ride Le Tour de Sandwich, and new for 2016 – visit our Anglo French Medieval encampment on the Quay Green.

With a broad range of musical styles including traditional and modern, our Folk & Ale Festival is well supported by numerous Morris Dance Teams who bring a splash of colour to the Town Centre. The Festival Kicks off with a Friday Folk Party evening concert in St Mary’s with Hobo and The Hippies, Gentlemen of Few, and Sam Brothers. There is an amazing craft fair in the Guildhall and a chill out fun kids area in St Peters Gardens.With over 30 bands on Saturday and Sunday playing in the streets and pubs offering a staggering range of free to enjoy concerts.

An extravanganza of free entertainment in the Town Centre and on the Quay Green. Highlights include: Saturday: Carnival Queens parade and free outdoor concert; Barn Dancing in the Street; Sunday, Italian Market; Salsa Dancing at The Beach Hut with Leon Williams, Family Barn Dance in the Street with Contraband, Live music and picnic on the Quay Green,Illuminated Boat parade. Monday – Classic Cars, Sandwich Town Monday Fayre with sandwich making, Rotary Duck race;
Saturday 16th to Saturday 23rd 2017
A week long exhibition of local artists in St Peter’s church and in addition at various locations around the Town Trail. A welcome evening on Saturday; free music and drama on Sunday afternoon, film nights on Tuesday and Thursday; a Jazz Club on Wednesday; a Concert on Friday and Poetry workshops on Saturday.
Saturday November 25th 2017
A day-long festival of craft stalls, mulled wine, musical entertainments and fun fair. Then, at 6.00pm the family lantern parade processes through the town centre. On its return is the lights switch-on at 7.00pm.
